Although we sell screens, screens do not stop debris from clogging—and even growing in—your gutters.
Take a look at the picture below when deciding if screens are right for your home. While screens will prevent some large debris from entering the home, small debris will always find its way into your gutters. That small debris will accumulate over time, leading to clogged and damaged gutters, eventually harming your home.
So, if you plan to continue cleaning your gutters on a regular basis, and simply want screens to prevent penetration of large debris, contact us today about the cost to screen your home.
If, however, you believe that the installation of screens ends your need for gutter cleaning on a regular basis, your gutters will soon look like the one below!
Call us today and one of our gutter experts can assist you with all your gutter needs.
Plastic screens should not be used.
They break easily and are hard to remove from the gutter. They usually come in
white and black. They often come in rolls or sections.
Concave screens are attached to the
roof. Never attach a product to your roof. These screens have clips that attach
to the shingles. Not only can the clips break and get lost but they can damage
your roof!
Don’t use louvered screens. They are poor quality, they bend easily, they allow debris to penetrate the gutter, and gutters cannot be cleaned with them in place. There are tabs that are supposed to hold the screen in place in the front, but these tabs break off easily. Once this screening is bent there is no way to bend it back into shape. So, once a clog occurs, the louvered screens will need to be removed and discarded, and that removal usually causes damage either to the gutter or your roof.
Rolled screening comes in rolls and is laid across the gutter. Often it collapses into the gutter making it useless and impossible to clean the gutters without removing it. Once it is removed, it cannot be re-installed.
Ned Stevens will never install a product that attaches to your roof. Both of the
products we install, screening and Ned Stevens Gutter Guard are slid under the
shingles. You should never install products when you have a slate , wood or
tile roof. Never install a product that is nailed or screwed into either the
roof or gutter.
