NED STEVENS GUTTER GUARD
Overview Does It Work? Colors

Since 1965 we have been experimenting with hundreds of products which claim to keep all debris out of gutters.

The most effective product we have located is our Ned Stevens Gutter Guard. It is our top-of-the-line aluminum gutter “cap” which is effective in keeping large debris from your gutters and catching slow-moving water. Although we sell and install our Ned Stevens Gutter Guard, we have learned that we cannot sell this product with any guarantees.

A house with a 1,500-square-foot roof sheds 1,000 gallons of water for every inch of falling rain. Because the Gutter Guard is a cover over the gutter which extends from the roof, we can’t guarantee that the gutter will actually catch all water pouring off your roof in medium to heavy rains. Take a look at our “Does it Work?” section for a visual example of how even a small stream can simply pour over the gutter.

We have also found that small debris and even large leaves will still penetrate the system, causing overflowing gutters and clogged downspouts. Spring buds and seed pods easily penetrate the system, and if neglected, the buds germinate and actual plants can grow in your gutter. Those clogs can lead to water damage to your home.

The “Does it Work?” section illustrates these clogs.

Additionally, we have learned that small animals and birds are attracted to the shelter and water source created by the Gutter Guard, and so they tend to nest inside the Gutter Guard.

Because Gutter Guards are permanently mounted, gutters cannot be cleaned with the Guard in place. In the event of a clog or water damage to your home, our only alternative is to remove the Guard entirely.

Don’t be fooled by promises made by companies that sell products that don’t work and have disappeared when you have a problem. We have been servicing homes for over 40 years, and during that time we have been searching for a “no clog gutter” that we could sell to our customers. Unfortunately, we have learned that there is simply no such thing.

Instead, we advise customers that they are best served by saving their money, simply keeping their gutters open, and routinely cleaning the gutters on a fixed schedule. We have several popular service plans listed on this website, which are cost saving alternatives that actually keep the gutters clean all year round.
